The Streaming Giant Selects Spot-On Star for Mr. 2 in the Hit Series Third Season

Baroque Works is set to make a major impact in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, though the real showdown won’t unfold until the third season, and a beloved, audience-beloved member has now been chosen.

The platform declared this week that Cole Escola has joined the One Piece upcoming season’s lineup and will embody Bon Clay. The role has the ability to morph into an exact copy of anyone they’ve made contact with with their main hand. Escola, who is identifies as non-binary and prefers they/them pronouns, will play a rendition of that role reinterpreted as gender non-binary, instead of as a drag artist, in the live-action show, differing from the initial comic and animated series.

Escola will work alongside several other recently announced actors set to bring the organization to life, including head Mr. 0, played by Joe Manganiello, Sophia Anne Caruso as Miss Goldenweek, and an accomplished actor, who also joins the ensemble as King Nefertari Cobra of the fictional land.

Though Bon Clay is a key figure of Baroque Works, the character won’t appear until One Piece season 3. Considering season 2 likely to portray the Little Garden storyline, this represents a significant shift in the schedule of the character’s debut, one that could suggest further changes to the plot development.

Escola’s blend of precise humor and emotional depth makes them a standout choice for the part. Besides their latest vocal work in the animated coming-of-age film Boys Go to Jupiter, they garnered significant recognition and numerous honors for writing and starring in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, highlighting the versatility they’ll contribute to one of One Piece’s most celebrated characters.

The platform’s adapted One Piece series is set to return for its second season on the tenth of March, 2026.
