The Mighty Nein's Opening Sequence Selected the Incorrect Popular RPG Show Track

This latest animated series, the newest animated adventure from Critical Role, unveiled a new introductory sequence. It showcases the beloved group of outcasts, outcasts, and rogues fighting hard and making their mark, while also hinting at multiple agonizing backstories for key figures including the voice actor's wizard Caleb, and Travis Willingham's orc warlock, Fjord.

Overall, the intro looks amazing. However, I felt that an element was lost in the music selection.

This sequence uses "Welcome to Wildemount", an exceptional song created by producer and singer the talented musician. It's a track originating from the soundtrack album of that title, the second release released by the production company's record label their music brand. It's a wonderful nostalgic option, and I believe that fans of the second campaign will love its inclusion.

But for me, The Mighty Nein's intro doesn't quite capture the hype and energy that was part of the second campaign's actual-play adventure. "Your Turn to Roll", composed by singer-songwriter the artist, became an immediate hit in my view when it was first revealed in 2015, and it only got better when co-founder Sam Riegel added lyrics to the tune for the series' animated intro in 2018.

Featuring vocals from Ashley Johnson, Laura Bailey, Travis Willingham, as well as Riegel himself, the track was memorable and enjoyable. At the time, I hadn't seen the follow-up series yet, but this was such an earworm that I kept it on my device. It's a song that knows how to get you pumped before you dive into an episode of adventurous fun.

The Mighty Nein's opening with "the new song" doesn't strike the right notes for me. It's a grand composition, but from what I know of the group, I feel that its mood is somewhat mismatched.

Naturally, the creators has already said that the animated show will have a few changes and differences from the actual-play campaign. A tonal change for its intro appears as among these.

The Mighty Nein will be available to watch on the streaming service from November 19. For those eager until then, or want a head start to learn about the personas of the second series, the actual play are accessible on the audio platform and YouTube.
