New Information Surface Concerning the Finding of the Reiner Couple's Remains

Recent details have emerged about the tragic deaths of acclaimed filmmaker Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were located at their Los Angeles home property on Sunday.

The Initial Report

A source indicates citing a person close to the family, a practitioner scheduled for an session first raised the alarm after not being able to enter the residence. The practitioner then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides in the vicinity.

After gaining access to the residence, Romy discovered her father's body. It is said she then left the home distraught, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Her roommate who had accompanied her contacted 911. Afterward, first responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Criminal Proceedings

Authorities have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of first-degree murder, as well as the alleged use of a deadly weapon, reportedly a knife. He is currently in custody and is ineligible for bail.

Disputed Reports

The person close to the family challenged several initial details. They said that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick resided in a detached unit on the estate, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that time.

The source also refuted widely reported suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "apprehensive" about Nick's actions in the preceding period. Rather the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."

This correction applies to descriptions of reportedly "erratic" conduct by Nick at a gathering thrown by Conan O'Brien on the night before the tragedy. Although the source noted they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they asserted that suggestions of a "major confrontation" between the two were not correct.

Ongoing Inquiry Details

Per law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had still not confirmed as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Some media reports noted the condition of their bodies suggested they had been deceased for some hours.

Nick Reiner was taken into custody at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, some 15 miles from the family home. He was due to appear in court on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, said his client had not received medical clearance and would not be present until Wednesday or later.
