Jurgen Klopp states coming back to lead Liverpool is conceivable.
The German coach, who left Liverpool in 2024, has suggested that returning someday remains an option. Klopp, post a game-changing near-decade reign that included Champions League success and the Premier League crown since 1990, currently occupies roles as head of global soccer with the Red Bull group and in an advisory capacity with the German Football League.
Fan Sentiment and Klopp’s Candid Remarks
The club claimed the league title under Arne Slot, but many fans who adore the manager would welcome the possibility that he might come back one day. In a wide-ranging interview, he told Steven Bartlett: “I said I refuse to lead a different club on English soil. So that means in case it's my former club...yes. Theoretically it’s possible.”
“Being 58, that means the choice could be mine in a few years, who knows. Is a decision required immediately? If so, I wouldn't return. Luckily, I don’t have to do that. I'll simply watch how things unfold.”
Conditions for a Comeback
Questioned regarding which situations must arise to tempt his return to management, he confessed he isn't eager for a comeback. “I'm not entirely sure, My present work fulfills me,” he stated. “I don’t miss coaching; I don’t miss standing during downpours for two-and-a-half or three hours; I don’t miss going to media briefings four times, three times a week or having 10-12 interviews a week.
“The locker room isn't missed in that context, however, dining out with the team talking freely, that’s nice. With many victories thus frequently a very good mood at the club. I still have the captain's chuckle ringing in my ears for example.”
Praise for His Successor
He spoke highly for his successor, praising him for the adjustments that won the league in the previous season. They've been defeated four in a row across various tournaments post heavy investment, yet he dismissed the notion of it representing the start of a downward turn.
“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker such as Wirtz, you will all eat your words if you use the wrong words. An outstanding player. [Hugo] Ekitike, incredible player. They have a strong balanced team. You don’t have to worry over the club, they'll bounce back.”
Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward
He shared movingly on the loss of Jota, a 2020 acquisition during his tenure, and its impact at the club. The Portugal international lost his life in a road accident with his brother recently.
“Can you substitute somebody like Diogo? It goes beyond the player himself, it's his character. I struggle to conceive the squad absent his presence. I still cannot speak properly about it. It was an incredible shock for his teammates as well. No one within the club will ever use it for poor performances but it is the situation. Entering the changing area which he filled completely. Handling this individually is challenging. Unbearable.”
