Followers Call for Arrest of Individual Who Seized Ariana Grande
Passionate followers of Ariana Grande are demanding that a person who jumped a fence and seized the actress during yesterday's Wicked: For Good launch be taken into custody or deported from Singapore.
A viral clip reveals the individual from Australia bypassing media personnel and charging at Grande while the actors proceeded down a yellow carpet accompanied by supporters.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo immediately wrested the shocked actress away from Mr Wen, who was seen being escorted out of the gathering by security officers.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "let go after being arrested", though court documents indicated that he was scheduled to be present on the next day. It is uncertain if he was charged.
Pattern of Event Invasions
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Troll Most Hated", has crashed a concert or event. His Instagram profile features videos of him disrupting other high-profile occasions, including jumping on stage at the artist's Sydney concert in earlier this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers concert in the area last winter.
"Steps should be implemented taken against him as this is clearly a legal violation," commented an Instagram commenter, in a reply to a video Mr Wen posted of his actions.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" one Instagram user questioned.
Fans Show Disapproval Over Ariana's Past Trauma
Many fans criticized Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had discussed experiencing trauma-related anxiety after a devastating incident at the conclusion of her 2017 concert in Manchester, killing 22 people and wounding numerous individuals.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" commented another message on Instagram.
A number of supporters also questioned guards at the premiere for not being adequately prepared; while different individuals requested online networks to ban Mr Wen's videos.
Response and Premiere Information
In clips circulating online, Grande appeared surprised when she was approached by the man. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted reassuring her while Mr Wen was led out by guards.
Grande has not issued a statement on the incident, and the rest of the event continued without further issues.
Many of attendees had gathered in a mass of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific launch in a Singapore mall, including a number who had waited for as long as eight hours before it began.
The movie, to be premiered on the 21st of November, is the follow-up of a two-film interpretation of the popular theatrical production Wicked, which focuses on the unexpected friendship between two very different characters.
The show itself is a adaptation of the classic book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the good witch Glinda, was dressed in a light pink sequin dress at the premiere while Erivo, who plays the villainous character, wore a elegant ensemble embroidered with roses.
They were joined by fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the top-earning motion picture of the previous year in the UK, and earned 10 Academy Award nods, earning two for excellent wardrobe and set decoration.
