Brian Eno Urges Support to Get Together for Palestine Lullaby to UK Festive Top Spot.

A charity drive is aiming to launch a traditional song from Palestine to the top of the UK charts. The campaign hopes to send support to Gaza's residents while also spotlighting Palestinian cultural expression.

An Opportunity for Solidarity and an "Chart Upset"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to support Palestinians this festive season. He noted the potential for an unexpected chart success.

“It would be incredible if that occurred, yes,” he commented. “I’m not gonna be completely disappointed if it fails to, holiday tracks are a unique phenomenon.”

Powerful Theme of Self-Determination

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the reimagining of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's powerful central theme.

“It has a very special place for countless listeners,” Barghouti explained. “It’s basically saying that I would prefer a dignified death than exist without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we want to live a life of dignity that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”

Production History and Featured Artists

The track was produced in the wake of a large-scale benefit event held in late summer. Initially planned to be done as a live recording, the piece was shelved during the concert due to time constraints.

The impressive roster of artists featured on Lullaby includes a selection of well-known figures from the music world. All were part of the earlier concert, which successfully generated a significant sum for humanitarian aid.

Production and Release

Lullaby was brought to life by a group of music creators. The track showcases a combination of the original Arabic with new English lyrics.

The organizers behind the campaign have stated that their goal is to raise as much as possible for a dedicated fund. These donations will be allocated to projects in Palestine through an established charity.

“We haven't set a fixed goal,” a spokesperson commented. “We will pursue the maximum achievable. Of course, the greater the amount, the better. All proceeds are directed out to those in need in Gaza.”

The context in the territory was described as its profound destruction, with a huge proportion of buildings said to be levelled or seriously harmed.

“Against that backdrop, a few million is unlikely to make a massive dent. But I think the significant factor is above all raising awareness for this issue and proving the human dimension of the story.”

The single 'Lullaby' is scheduled for release at the end of the week. Additionally, a complete film of the charity concert will be made accessible to view on a digital service from the 19th of December.
